- allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue;
- Black/tarry stools;
- Bone/jaw pain;
- breathing problems;
- change in the amount of urine;
- changes in hearing;
- chest pain;
- Chest/left arm pain;
- Chills;
- Confusion;
- Constipation;
- Difficult/painful urination;
- Dizziness/feeling of spinning;
- Easy bleeding/bruising;
- Fast/pounding heartbeat;
- Fever;
- hair loss;
- Hearing problems;
- high blood pressure;
- Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat);
- jaw pain;
- Loss of appetite;
- low blood counts - this drug may decrease the number of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. you may be at increased risk for infections and bleeding;
- Mental/mood changes (depression);
- mouth sores;
- nausea and vomiting;
- Nausea;
- Numbness/tingling;
- Or persistent sore throat;
- pain, swelling, redness or irritation at the injection site;
- pain, tingling, numbness in the hands or feet;
- Pain/coldness in fingers/toes;
- Pain/redness at the injection site;
- Pale/bluish fingers/toes;
- Pink/bloody urine;
- problems with balance, dizziness;
- Rash;
- Seizures;
- sensitivity to light;
- Severe dizziness;
- Severe headache;
- signs of decreased platelets or bleeding - bruising, pinpoint red spots on the skin, black, tarry stools, nosebleeds;
- signs of decreased red blood cells - unusually weak or tired, fainting spells, lightheadedness;
- signs of infection - fever or chills, cough, sore throat, pain or difficulty passing urine;
- Slurred speech;
- stomach pain;
- Sudden shortness of breath/wheezing;
- Tiredness;
- Trouble breathing;
- tumor pain;
- Unusual lumps/skin changes;
- Vision changes;
- Vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
- Vomiting;
- Weakness on one side of the body;


Vinblastine is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- an unusual or allergic reaction to vinblastine, other chemotherapy agents, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives;
- blood disorders;
- breast-feeding;
- dental disease;
- gout;
- infection (especially a virus infection such as chickenpox, cold sores, or herpes);
- liver disease;
- lung disease;
- nervous system disease;
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant;
- recent or ongoing radiation therapy;
- if you are allergic to vinblastine;
- if you have any other allergies;
- if you have blood vessel problems (blood clots, stroke, raynaud's disease, varicose veins);
- if you have bone marrow problems (low white count/platelets from previous chemotherapy/radiation treatment, tumor in the bone marrow);
- if you have certain medical conditions;
- if you have heart disease (angina, heart attack);
- if you have liver disease;
- if you have lung problems;
- if you have poor nutrition;
- if you have skin sores (ulcers);
- if you have stomach/intestinal sores (peptic ulcer);
- if you have untreated bacterial infection;


Do not take Vinblastine with any of the following drugs:
- acetaminophen;
- Aminoglycosides such as gentamicin;
- Aspirin and other NSAIDs (ibuprofen);
- Aspirin;
- Azole antifungals;
- Carboplatin;
- Cisplatin;
- cyclosporine;
- Drugs affecting liver enzymes that remove vinblastine from your body;
- Drugs that may harm the ears;
- Erythromycin;
- fluconazole;
- Hydantoins (phenytoin);
- Ibuprofen;
- itraconazole;
- Ketoconazole;
- ketoprofen;
- Macrolide antibiotics;
- medicines for seizures like phenytoin;
- medicines to increase blood counts like filgrastim, pegfilgrastim, sargramostim;
- mibefradil;
- Naproxen;
- Prepitant;
- Rifabutin;
- Rifamycins;
- Tolterodine;
- vaccines;
- verapamil;
- Voriconazole;
