Structure

Ventolin Inhaler
Each actuation delivers Salbutamol 100 mg and Ipratropium Bromide 20 mg

Ventolin Rotacaps
Each capsule contains Salbutamol Sulphate IP 200 mg and Ipratropium Bromide 40 mg

Ventolin Respules
Each 2.5 ml unit-dose vial contains Salbutamol Sulphate 2.5 mg and Ipratropium Bromide 500 mcg in Normal Saline solution IP q.s.

Without a Prescription

Ventolin is prescribed for the treatment of:
Ventolin Inhalers, Rotacaps and Respules are prescribed in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on a regular aerosol bronchodilator who continue to have evidence of bronchospasm and who require a second bronchodilator.

Dosage

The dosage should be adapted to the individual requirements of the patient.
Adults (including the elderly and adolescents over 12 years of age) 2 puffs four times a day.
Patients may take additional puffs as required; however, the total number of puffs should not exceed 12 puffs in 24 hours or 1-2 Rotacaps four times a day or 1 unit (Respule) nebulised three or four times daily.
Children - Not recommended

Contraindications

Ventolin is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation or to atropine and its derivatives.
It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to soya lecithin or related food products such as soybean and peanut.
