Side Effects

Temozolomide side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue;
- bad taste in the mouth;
- breathing problems;
- Burning/painful/frequent urination;
- changes in vision;
- Chills;
- Constipation;
- Cough;
- difficulty sleeping;
- dry skin;
- Easy bleeding or bruising;
- feeling faint or lightheaded, falls;
- Fever;
- hair loss;
- Headache;
- Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat);
- Loss of appetite;
- low blood counts - temozolomide may decrease the number of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. you may be at increased risk for infections and bleeding;
- memory problems;
- Mouth sores;
- nausea;
- Night sweats;
- Persistent sore throat;
- problems with balance, walking;
- Rash;
- seizures;
- Severe dizziness;
- Shortness of breath;
- signs of decreased platelets or bleeding - bruising, pinpoint red spots on the skin, black, tarry stools, blood in the urine;
- signs of decreased red blood cells - unusually weak or tired, fainting spells, lightheadedness;
- signs of infection - fever or chills, cough, sore throat, pain or difficulty passing urine;
- Swelling of the ankles/feet;
- Swollen glands;
- Tiredness;
- Trouble breathing;
- trouble passing urine or change in the amount of urine;
- Unexplained or sudden weight loss;
- vomiting;
- Weakness;

Contraindications

Temozolomide is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- an unusual or allergic reaction to temozolomide, dacarbazine (dtic), other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives;
- bleeding problems;
- breast-feeding;
- infection (especially a virus infection such as chickenpox, cold sores, or herpes);
- kidney disease;
- liver disease;
- pregnant or trying to get pregnant;
- recent or ongoing radiation therapy;
- if you are allergic to dacarbazine;
- if you are allergic to temozolomide;
- if you have any other allergies;
- if you have blood cell disorders (anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia);
- if you have decreased bone marrow function;
- if you have kidney problems;
- if you have liver problems;

Interactions

Do not take Temozolomide with any of the following drugs:
- valproic acid;
- vaccines;
- nalidixic acid;
