Without a Prescription

Persantine is prescribed to patients who have recently undergone heart valve replacement, in order to prevent blood clots from appearing on or around the artificial valve.
Persantine is prescribed in addition to other medications (thallium) to view the arteries of the heart (myocardial imaging).

Warnings

Before you start a treatment with Persantine you should alert your personal health care specialist if you are:
- Angina (chest pain);
- Coronary artery disease;
- If you have recently suffered from a heart attack;
- Liver disease;
- Suffering from low blood pressure;

Overdose

The average symptoms that could be triggered by an overdose with Persantine include:
- Dizziness;
- Fainting;
- Fast heart beat;
- Light-headedness;
- Restlessness;
- Sweating;
- Tingly sub dermal feeling;
- Weakness;

Side Effects

You should stop your treatment with Persantine as soon as possible and alert your personal physician at once if you develop any of this medicine's severe side effects:
- Bloody black or tarry stools;
- Nosebleed;

A treatment with Persantine could also trigger some other less severe but much more common side effects such as:
- Warmth;
- Vomiting;
- Upset stomach;
- Tingly sub dermal feeling;
- Redness;
- Mild skin itching or rash;
- Joint or muscle pain;
- Headache;
- Dizziness;
- Diarrhea;
- Dizziness;
- Fatigue;
- Flushing;
- Headache;
- Nausea;

If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.

Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur:
- Fast/slow/irregular pulse;
- Chest pain;

Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur:
- Confusion;
- One-sided weakness;
- Seizures;
- Slurred speech;

An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction include:
- Itching;
- Rash;
- Severe dizziness;
- Swelling;
- Trouble breathing;
