Without a Prescription

Isradipine is called a calcium channel blocker.
Isradipine is prescribed with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
Isradipine works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.
Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

Contraindications

Isradipine is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- if you are allergic to Isradipine;
- if you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feedin;
- if you are taking any other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal or complementary medicines;
- if you have any other allergies;
- if you have certain medical conditions;
- if you have certain structural heart problem (aortic stenosis);
- if you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine;
- if you have had a heart attack or suffer from any other heart problem;
- if you have kidney disease;
- if you have liver disease;
- if you suffer from diabete;
- if you suffer from liver or kidney problem;

Interactions

Do not take Isradipine with any of the following drugs:
- Azole antifungals (itraconazole);
- Carbamazepine;
- Cimetidine;
- Cough-and-cold products;
- Diet aids;
- Drugs used to treat seizures;
- Ibuprofen;
- Macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin);
- Naproxen;
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs-NSAIDs for pain/fever reduction;
- Phenylephrine;
- Phenytoin;
- Pseudoephedrine;
- Rifamycins (rifabutin);
- St John's wort;

Side Effects

Isradipine side effects that you should report to your health care professional or doctor as soon as possible:
- Dizziness;
- Fainting;
- Fast or fluttery heartbeat;
- Fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat;
- Flushing;
- Headache;
- Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat);
- Nausea;
- Palpitations;
- Rarely skin rash;
- Rash;
- Redness of the face;
- Severe dizziness;
- Swelling of the ankles/feet;
- Swollen legs and ankles;
- Tiredness;
- Trouble breathing;
- Tummy pain;
- Vision changes;
- Weight gain;
