Structure

Ampicillin
Each capsule contains Ampicillin 250 mg, Cloxacillin 250 mg

Ampicillin LB
Each capsule contains Ampicillin 250 mg, Cloxacillin 250 mg, Lactobacillus 60 M spores

Ampicillin DT LB
Each dispersible tablet contains Ampicillin 125 mg, Cloxacillin 125 mg, Lactobacillus 90 M spores

Without a Prescription

Ampicillin is prescribed for:
- Respiratory tract infections, infections of ear, nose and throat.
- Skin and soft tissue infections, osteomyelitis and other bone infections.
- Severe infections, septicaemia, meningitis, endocarditis caused by sensitive pathogens.

Dosage

General Dosage: 1 capsule (250+250) 4 times daily.
Children: 1 capsule (125+125) 4 times daily.
In severe infections in adults the dose can be increased upto a total of 6 g (3 g+3 g) per day.
In acute osteomyelitis parenteral therapy for first 3 weeks followed by oral therapy for another 3 weeks.
In chronic osteomyelitis parenteral therapy for 1-2 months followed by oral therapy subsequently.

Contraindications

Ampicillin is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- Penicillin allergy.
